Chi and Yusuke Wedding

Chi and Yusuke had a really beautiful wedding back in October. I was honored to be able to work with them to develop the cake that they wanted! Chi reached out to me towards the beginning of this year to see if I'd be able to do their wedding cake. A couple phone conversations and a tasting later, we had a plan for the perfect cake!

Chi and Yusuke ended up deciding to do a white sponge with a light chocolate mousse filling for their flavor. They wanted the cake to have a smooth buttercream on the outside, with a palette knife finish and decadent florals. They got the most beautiful gold cake topper that perfectly complemented the flowers.

This couple was such a joy to work with- they are both Atlanta artists and animators. They work together and have been dating for years! Chi made her own invitations and a lot of the decorations. Chi and Yusuke are a really kind couple, and I look forward to being able to work with them again!

Chi graciously provided me with these beautiful pictures taken by their photographer at the wedding. Chris Wong, an Atlanta-based photographer took these stunning pictures. You can check out more of his work at his website.

Stay tuned for a fun recipe to celebrate fall next week!!! I think the technical difficulties have been solved- I'm so looking forward to posting regularly again!

Sung and Joseph Wedding

I was given the privilege of being a part of this couple's special day! Sung approached me about making a cake and some mini cupcakes for their wedding day. I was able to work with her to figure out what exactly they were looking for.

In the end, the cake turned out great, and Sung and Joseph loved the flavors. They went with a vanilla sponge with a light chocolate filling. I made a light chiffon cake with an airy chocolate mousse for them to enjoy.

The design of the cake perfectly accompanied the decor of the church, and fit the theme of their event altogether. A big thank you to Chil studios for sharing their photos from the day with me. You can see more from Sung and Joseph's wedding on their [website].

Congratulations to the new couple! I hope that you are blessed with a fruitful marriage. Again, thank you for letting me be a part of your day!

#Chungies2014 Wedding

Just over 2 months ago, I had the privilege of witnessing two of my good friends get married! Susan and Alex are a beautiful couple with beautiful and generous hearts. It was such a joy to be in attendance, and to be a part of their special day!

I was invited to make the Chungie wedding cake! Susan and Alex chose to go with a white cake with a pumpkin mousse. The sponge was soaked with an amaretto syrup, to compliment the rich pumpkin. The cake was covered in fondant, and then decorated with flowers and ribbons to match the decorations in the reception hall.

This post isn't much of a recipe post, but more of an experience post. Though the day was hectic, I was so excited to see the bride and groom enjoy the cake! It was a day to celebrate their relationship, their love, and their future!

These beautiful photos were taken by my friend, Crystal! She's an extremely talented artist and photographer. If you're looking for portraits, she's definitely someone to look up! :)

Wedding Cake

I love weddings. They're such amazing days filled with love, joy, excitement, and new beginnings. Recently, my aunt got married, and she asked me to do her cake (she's the one in the background). The cake was a vanilla chiffon cake with strawberry mousse, fresh strawberries, rum syrup, and vanilla buttercream. I covered with fondant, hand-piped details with royal icing, and finished the cake with fresh flowers.

Although this blog is meant for people to recreate the recipes I post, I figured I would share this story. Unfortunately, I do not think I can guide people through the process of making one of these... but I hope everyone who sees this can see the intricacy, detail, and artwork that goes into making cakes. Although this post won't teach you a recipe to create a story with, it will give you some insight into my passions and the reason behind what I do.

This is one reason I decided to go into the industry that I am in. I have had a passion for food because it is something that can bring joy to people. I love being able to put a smile on people's faces by filling their stomachs. I decided to pursue pastry as a career because I wanted to be able to come home and cook dinner for my family after a day of working. I figured if I'm cooking all day, I wouldn't want to come home and cook more. I also love making pretty things, and pastry seemed to fit well.

I love the science behind pastry and the way that basic ingredients (butter, sugar, eggs, flour, etc.) can produce such different products and be used in so many different ways. It's a fascinating art form and I love to use the hands that God gave me to create things that can bring such joy to people.

I'm very glad i was able to make the newlyweds happy :) Congratulations Aunt Kathy and Uncle Pete!
